Summary:
Ontario Minister of Education Laurel Broten (Moe Doiron /The Globe and Mail)
School teachers from elementary schools are walking off the job next month and the Ontario Government is threatening to block the commotion and the actions of the teachers. Elementary school teachers are trying to go on strike to follow the other high school teachers that are already on strike right now. The government is now worried and annoyed of how many school teachers are wanting to go on strike. Many teachers in high schools have been withdrawing voluntary services, which includes coaching and supervising clubs, since September 2012. Teachers in Ontario are now frustrated that the new legislation introduced by the governing Liberals that dictates the terms of their contracts and restricts their ability to strike. The province now has the power to end any walkouts and can act quickly to stop them when needed. Since this has happened, there are no more indications of any school board that are poised to give the 72-hours notice of strike action. The province has not gave the right to ban strike action but they built in the legaslation to respond when they need to.

My Opinion:
I think that the teachers are taking this way to far. The students need to keep on learning the material everyday or they will not want to anymore. Now that elemantary school teachers are going on strike the kids are in a bad situation for learning. This teachers are now punishing the kids for the problems they have with the government. The teachers need to find another way and a better way to say that they are unhappy with the government and not take their frustrations out on the kids by going on strike and affecting their learning. When teachers go on strike I they don't think of the students in the school that they are affecting. In the future, these students will have a hard time because of this incident that the teachers are doing. If the teachers know that they are affecting the students, I think tha they should stop striking right away and find another way to tell the government that they are unhappy with them.

Ontario Education Minister approves more deals with teachers

Ontario Minister of Education Laurel Broten. (Moe Doiron /The Globe and Mail)
Ontario Education Minister

Summary:

Ontario's Education Minister has approved four more deals between schools, boards, and high-school teachers. This will help schools return to a normal academic year. These deals were identical with the agreement reached with the English Catholic teachers. Thames Valley, Avon Maitland, District of Niagara School Board are the latest to reach the deal with the Ontario Education Minister. There are schools that are still awaiting approval from the Minister. Union members will also be asked to approval the deal. High school teachers at more than 20 boards are in legal strike position. Many of these teachers are restricting their withdrawal of services to administrative duties and supervising outside their classrooms. All teachers have said that this is a strike targeting administrators, not students. But many students marks have been suffering because of the strike. Also teachers have attended to restrict supervising students at lunch and in the hallways. This is a great concern for the students and the for high-school officials because of the safety of the students.

My Opinion:

I think that the teachers and the school boards that have not yet approved the deals with the Ontario Education Minister are making the students suffer a lot because of the restrictions that the teachers are making for themselves around the school. I also think that supervision of kids should be mandatory everywhere because of all of the kids that get bullied around the world. Many kids have committed suicide because of bullying and I think that the school boards should be very strict about the supervision of the students. I also am glad that the percentage of schools have gone down for strikes which allows kids to learn in depth their criteria. Teachers should find another way to get back at the administrators and not by punishing the kids. I think that students need to be learning everyday and not having teachers go on strike. To get into a good university, the students need to learn the criteria they have infront of them and they need a teacher to help them.

Dominance of French and English languages shrinking, census shows

Dominance of French and English languages shrinking, census shows

Summary:

A multicultural little Indian restaurant
The historic dominance of French and English are shrinking and Canada is turning into a country of many languages. The percentage of people who speak two or more languages were around 17.5%.  This is a major different from 14.2% five year earlier. Demographers have predicted that the number of Canadians who speak French as their first language drops below the number of people who speak immigrant languages in Canada. The gap is very close to though's people who speak French and to though's people who speak another language. It's only 4% apart with the French just a little past the immigrant languages. Many researchers like Jane Badets have also noticed the increase in the diversity of languages Canadians are speaking. Mandarin and Arabic have significantly gone up between 2006 and 2011, according to the census. The most commonly spoken immigrant language in Canada in 2011 was Punjabi, followed by the language, Chinese.

My Opinion:
I think that its fine that Canada is learning new languages. It is also a good thing for Canada because it opens up conversation and other options like business and medicine. I think that people should learn minimum two languages because when people travel around the world it is good to know the language of what country you are in. The other factor is having a polite conversation in the language you are speaking. Learning other languages can also be very important and helpful if you need directions or if you need to buy things when you are in another country. When immigrants come to Canada they should also know how to speak our language but they should also bring some of their heritage over so we can learn some of it and learn some of their language. I don't think that Canada should be out balanced by different languages and be overrules as well by immigrant languages because Canada well then lose its own heritage itself. I think that we should be open to other languages and keep on being more open because the more languages our country learns, the better the future will be for the people.

Ontario teachers encouraged by union to do bare minimum on fall report cards

Summary:

Teachers and education workers leave Queens Park after attending a rally outside the provincial legislature on August 28 2012 to protest against a controversial bill that would impose wage freezes on Ontario teachers. (Fred Lum /The Globe and Mail)Ontario elementary teachers have been advised to write the bare minimum on fall report cards. This representing symbol saying that the teachers are unhappy with the provincial government. Teachers are not required to fill the space on the report card but they are meeting the Ministry of Education's minimum requirements by only writing one sentence. Teachers have also been pulling back on volunteer teacher meetings, coaching, clubs, and parent teacher meetings because of the displeasure with the provincial government. A parent in the Toronto district area already complained that her sons report card has come back with no comments on their report cards.

Opinion:

I think as a teacher you should be obligated to help your students work past their potential and help them whenever they need it. These teachers are doing the bare minimum for the kids; they should be thinking about the kids and how they are doing instead of the provincial government. These kids need the education to go forth and complete a degree in University or get a job in which you get paid well. I also think that the teachers should not be taking out their frustrations on the kids by giving them a comment free report card when they go home. The main goal for every school is to help kids learn and achieve their personal goal in reality. If the teachers keep on doing the bare minimum for the kids then they will have a difficult future to deal with.

The Island will be a main money getter for all of the tourists that go there to explore and relax there. This will be a 1 billion dollar project for everything to be done the way the chairman wants it to be. Florentino Perez presented the whole presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. It is to be a touring complex and a theme park in the United Emirates under the Real Madrid brand.

My Opinion:

I think that this is a great idea for Real Madrid because they will make money from all of the tourists and also it will be a relaxing island for the Real Madrid soccer team. This is a great idea from the club and the owners who thought of the idea. It will be a real money maker for everyone.

On June 29, 2012 Michael Marin took his own life by secretly slipping a cyanide pill into his mouth after hearing that he was guilty for burning down his own house. Michael Marin was a arsonist who burned his 3.5 million dollar mansion to the ground. He was taken to a hospital in Phoenix, Arizona where he was pronounced died. Michael Marin was a father of four and a grandfather of two. After hearing that he would be spending 16 years in prison he slipped the pill in his mouth and then fell to the ground within 5 minutes while he was in court. Toxicology tests would be carried out on the 53 years old's body along with the water bottle he was drank from. No one was injured in the blaze but the charge of committing arson is the same number of years in prison as second-degree murder in Phoenix, Arizona. Prosecutors say that Marin burned down his mansion because he could not afford the mortgage that came with the 3.5 million dollar mansion.

Last resort: After being found guilty of burning down his own home and facing years in jail, Michael Marin appeared to swallow a substance in the Arizona courtroom

Michael Marin secretly slipping the pill into his mouth.

Michael Marin should have sought help for his mortgage in the first place when he finally knew that he couldn't pay of the mortgage for the 3.5 million dollar mansion. I also don't that he should have got 16 years in prison for burning down his own mansion when they have not found hard evidence that he caused this whole outcome. As I said in the summary of the article Michael Marin is a father of four and a grandfather of two, I think that he should of really thought of the people that he was going to hurt and not just himself. I think that it would have been better if he had not committed suicide so he would still be able to be with his family and not hurt anyone that loved him.

Summary:

Passengers look on after their bus overturned in a ditch at an exit ramp off Route 80 in Wayne, N.J. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012. The chartered tour bus from Toronto carrying about 60 people overturned on an interstate exit ramp. Three people have been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. (Bill Kostroun /AP)
A tour bus from Canada carrying 57 people bound for New York overturned on a highway exit ramp in northern New Jersey and flipped on its side and injuring more then 19 people. The bus driver said that someone else cut him off which caused the accident. It was not clear enough whether that caused the accident around 7:30 a.m. on eastbound interstate 80 in Wayne. Many were injured during the crash but some of the injuries were minor. Eight others were in critical condition and were taken to hospitals immediately. The State police assessed the situation and said that none of the injuries were life threatening. Carrying 57 people, the rest of the people continued their journey on another bus.

My Opinion:

I think that this a complete accident by the bus driver when he flipped the bus. I don't know if someone cut him of and he was telling the truth but none of the passengers said that he did it on purpose. Accidents do happen and this was a complete mistake from the bus driver. Do I think that he should get his licensed suspended? I do but not for that long. He did not do this purposely, although he did injure more then 19 people that were on the bus at the time.
